Tech View: Nifty forms high wave type candle on weekly chart. Here’s how to trade next week
Nifty formed a small negative candle on the daily chart with minor upper and lower shadow to indicate continuation of narrow range movement in the market. The weekly scale saw the formation of a high wave type candle pattern. The underlying trend of Nifty remains choppy. Having placed near the crucial supports around 24500 levels, there is a higher possibility of an upside bounce in the market from here or from lower supports. Immediate resistance is placed at 25250, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities. What should traders do? Here’s what analysts said:Tejas Shah, Technical Research, JM Financial & BlinkXThe psychological support of 25,000 was breached on a closing basis for two consecutive days, which indicates that the weakness is likely to continue. At the current juncture, the bears are in full control of the markets and are using every pull back rally to create short positions. Support for Nifty is now seen at 24,920 and 24,750. On the higher side, immediate resistance for Nifty is at 25,000-050 levels & the next resistance is at 25,250-275 levels.Amol Athawale, Kotak SecuritiesWe are of the view that, in the near future 50-day SMA (Simple Moving Average) or 25050/81900 would act as a sacrosanct level. If the market succeeds to trade above the same, then it could move up till 25250 -25400/82500-83000. On the flip side, as long as it is trading below the same, the weak sentiment is likely to continue. Below which, it could retest the level of 24700/80700. Further down side may also continue which could drag the index till 24550/80200. For Bank Nifty, 50 day SMA or 51500 would be the trend decider level. Above the same, it could bounce back till 52000-52300. On the flip side, below 50900 it could slip till 50500-50250.Hrishikesh Yedve, Asit C. Mehta Investment InterrmediatesTechnically, on the daily chart, the index formed a small red candle, indicating uncertainty. However, the index is still holding above the low of the inside bar candle, as well as the 75-Days Exponential Moving Average support. Thus, as long as the index holds above the low of 24,690, levels of 25,150–25,350 could be possible. However, a close below 24,690 could lead to a fresh breakdown.(Disclaimer: Recommendations, suggestions, views and opinions given by the experts are their own. DoT allocates satellite spectrum to players
In a big step towards launch of satcom services in India, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has allowed provisional allocation of satellite spectrum to eligible players for a period of six months, giving a boost to firms like Bharti-backed Eutelsat Oneweb and Reliance Jio’s satellite arm to test their services. The spectrum will be given so that companies can demonstrate all the compliances related to security and technical conditions. The DoT has stated that spectrum can be given only to firms which have secured license from DoT as well as In-Space authorisation certificate. So far, apart from Oneweb and Jio-SES combine have got the requisite approvals. The move will allow these firms to offer services to consumers but can’t charge them as commercial rollout won’t be permitted. But since there is no cap around the number of customers, the firms can test the services at length.Firms like Starlink and Amazon are yet to get the global mobile personal communications by satellite services (GMPCS) licence, so they won’t be getting the spectrum.Earlier, DoT allocated some quantum of demo spectrum to Oneweb for 90 days, allowing it to test the network capabilities. The DoT is likely to offer spectrum for commercial rollout once Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) gives its recommendations on pricing and other modalities. The issue around satellite spectrum allocation has once again become the point of disagreement between Reliance Jio and other satcom players. Jio has last week written to Trai to revise the consultation paper on satellite spectrum saying it has overlooked the critical aspect of a level-playing field between satellite and terrestrial networks.India’s largest telco has also questioned the regulator’s tilt towards administrative allocation of satellite spectrum, raising the pitch for auction of such airwaves. The likes of Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea have been supporting auction as the mode for satellite spectrum allocation as with technology advancements both satellite and terrestrial would be competing. The viewpoint was, however, opposed by Bharti-backed Eutelsat OneWeb and other satcom players. But with the notification of Telecommunications Act, all the players are expected to be given administratively. The satellite communications market in India is at a nascent stage but the potential is significant, particularly in rural and remote areas. As per an EY-ISpA report, India’s space economy is set to expand to $13 billion by 2025, recording a compound annual growth rate of 6% from nearly $9.6 billion in 2020.

5 facts that can affect Ivy League admission
Every admissions cycle, officers sift through countless applications, seeking red flags to eliminate unqualified candidates. While knowing what to include is important, understanding what to avoid is equally vital. High school seniors and younger students can enhance their applications by recognizing and steering clear of common pitfalls in personal statements, essays, and activities, as per a Forbes report. Here are five red flags that admissions officers will notice on your application—and how to avoid them:1. Lack of rigorous coursesAdmissions officers want to see that students have challenged themselves by taking the most rigorous courses available to them at their school, such as honors, Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate classes, the report says. “Opting to take easier courses could suggest that a student isn’t prepared for the academic challenges of collegiate study—particularly at Ivy League and other top-tier institutions.”For first- and second-year high school students, it's essential to maintain strong grades while also choosing intellectually challenging courses, particularly in their areas of interest. For example, aspiring engineering students should take advanced physics or chemistry to demonstrate preparedness. Starting in sophomore year, students should enroll in classes that showcase their academic strengths. If you're in the application process and feel your coursework lacks rigor, consider highlighting extracurricular learning experiences—like independent research, summer programs, or online courses—in your supplemental essays to show how these have prepared you for university.2. No extracurricular activitiesMost of your college experience will occur outside the classroom, and admissions committees seek to understand the kind of community member you will be. Top schools look for students who have positively contributed to their communities and will continue to drive change after graduation.A lack of extracurricular activities may raise concerns about your interest in helping others or your leadership experience, says the Forbes report. Remember, you can demonstrate your commitment to your community in both large and small ways, and admissions officers will consider the resources available to you. You don't need to achieve monumental feats; what matters is that your involvement reflects your genuine passions and unique insights into community issues. In your first year of high school engage with community members and join volunteer organizations that reflect your interests. In your junior and senior years, take on leadership roles or create initiatives to address community needs, and highlight these experiences in your applications, emphasizing their impact on your values and perspective.3. Unrelated extracurricular engagementsYour extracurricular activities should reflect a cohesive narrative about your interests, skills, and growth. While it's important to explore various activities in your first year, focus on honing in on core passions and making a tangible impact over time through leadership or initiatives. When applying, connect your diverse involvements to demonstrate how they enrich your intended field of study.4. Inappropriate social media presenceAdmissions officers are looking for students who will positively contribute to their campus culture and reflect their institution’s values, as per the report. Given that 67% of admissions officers “believe that checking out applicants’ social media posts on apps like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, and Threads to learn more about them is “fair game” to help them make decisions about who gets in” (according to a 2023 Kaplan study), what you post has the potential to influence your odds of admission, the report says. Inappropriate content—whether it’s offensive language, inflammatory comments, or evidence of risky behavior—will raise concerns about your character and maturity, and can impact your admission status even after you get in.“Be sure that you are not posting anything you would not want Ivy League admissions officers to see. Additionally, avoid linking your social media accounts on your application unless they directly pertain to work you have done during your high school career (a small business you founded, a volunteer opportunity, or an educational TikTok, for example).”5. Unprofessional essaysStudents should view personal and supplemental essays as crucial opportunities to communicate with admissions officers, as these essays reveal much about their character. However, many fall into traps like choosing edgy or divisive topics that may clash with the institution's values, or oversharing personal experiences in a way that borders on trauma-dumping. Instead, essays should reflect personal growth and introspection. Understanding what top colleges seek—and what to avoid—can help alleviate some application stress and guide students in crafting compelling admissions profiles.106531654
